The June 2021 Snap Shots features a Zoom meeting presentation by curator and archivist Edith Cuerrier on “The Gabriel Cromer Collection at the George Eastman Museum,” Sunday, June 6. Cuerrier will discuss the French collector Gabriel Cromer, the scope of the collection and its path to the George Eastman Museum, and her own work cataloging the materials (N.B. excellent French language skills required!). Other items: a remembrance of long-time PHSNE member Ed Shaw, the creator of Photographica; an article on daguerreotypist Samuel Broadbent (“Young girl in front of painted background, c. 1848-50, above) by Richard Berbiar; and news of a new museum in New York—Fotografiska.
