National Parrk Foundation Grand Prize Winner

The October 2021 Snap Shots features PHSNE member Vladimir Khazan’s Zoom presentation on “Zeiss-Ikon: History and Products from 1846-1945” at the October 3rd meeting. Other articles: the National Park Foundation grand prize-winning photo, taken by Mark Gruenhaupt, captures the Milky Way Galaxy above a camping area in the San Juan National Forest in the southwestern corner of Colorado, taken in July 2020 (above); thousands of glass plate negatives saved from destruction by photographer Terri Cappucci in Western Massachusetts (Update: Cappucci will give a presentation about the project at PHSNE’s February 6, 2022 Zoom meeting); a look at the Shanghai Seagull Camera Co. twin-lens 6×6 Seagull 4-BI; a French photographer in China puts Kodak in a fix; PHSNE member Mark Kronquist compares two very similar stereo cameras.
