I'd like to take this opportunity to inform our membership and friends on what PHSNE is doing during the widespread disruption we are all experiencing due to the coronavirus pandemic.

With the cancellation of the April Photographica and our May meeting, the June meeting is uncertain. Along with the temporary suspension of operations at the PHSNE warehouse in Waltham, our opportunities to interact face-to-face with our members are limited.

In light of the above, thank you all for your continued support as we adhere to state and national guidelines to keep members and the public safe. It is too early to know when these limitations on gatherings will be lifted. To paraphrase Photographica Manager John Dockery, "There are cameras to die for, but none worth dying for!"

Meanwhile, snap shots will continue to be distributed online at and by email notice; the printing and mailing of issues is temporarily suspended. The 2020 Journal production is moving along well and on schedule for a late fall distribution. And, PHSNE is looking forward to the rollout of a replacement website over the next few months. Meanwhile you can go to the standby site at and for updates and information.

Because of the unexpected loss of income from Photographica and auctions, and their impact on the PHSNE budget, please consider ways that you can offer support at this time.

Early membership renewals and donations can be made at and Encourage friends with similar interests in photography to join at Contact others who will be interested in PHSNE. We are a vibrant organization and terrific source of photographic knowledge.

After the social distancing and stay-at-home advisories are lifted please consider donating or consigning your unneeded cameras, collectible photographs, photo or darkroom equipment (of any kind!). Friends or family members could be downsizing and PHSNE can help. If you are local to the Boston area, equipment can be picked up by warehouse team members. More remote donors & consigners can ship equipment directly to the warehouse.

After sorting and often restoring, these items are offered to public and private schools and colleges through or auctioned to raise funds for continuing operations. Much of this donated equipment is once again put to use capturing important images!
