Auction Highlights

The PHSNE Members Auction was held on February 3rd at Waltham High School—but the work to bring it off started with PHSNE volunteers months before.

Preparation for the auction began at the PHSNE warehouse. A team met twice a week for several months to sort out and rehab 65 cameras and other photographic items for auction.[1] In addition, hundreds of items were selected for the dollar table.

Members were also able to auction their own individual items as ‘walk-ins’ on the day of the auction. 157 additional items were offered for auction as walk-ins.

Of the 65 PHSNE items offered for auction, 47 were sold. Bids did not meet the minimum on 18 items. Members sold 97 walk-in items; bids for the remaining 60 walk-in items did not meet minimums.

In addition about $400 worth of items sold at the dollar tables. Buyers were having a great time going through the materials at those tables – books, filters, and other items.

Overall, PHSNE items took in $2,722. This includes some items that were auctioned on behalf of two deceased PHSNE members. Proceeds for these items will be sent to their estates.

Items that were unsold will be auctioned on e-Bay or at the next Photographica auction in October.
